LearnLinks - Delivering flexible learning options through links between RMIT University and community learning centres across Victoria.

Background

Our Strategy

To link diverse members of the Victorian community with accredited RMIT learning opportunities across a range of subject areas, including Lifelong Learning; basic information technology and business administration skills; and online facilitation.

LearnLinks makes these opportunities available via flexible delivery at community-based learning centres across metropolitan Melbourne.

RMIT LearnLinks is:

Local People meeting
Local Needs with
Local Solutions

LearnLinks is an innovative collaboration between RMIT University and a range of community providers in the Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) sector to deliver RMIT accredited courses in local access points. It was originally established in 1999 as a Flexible Learning Network and more recently has relied on the annual negotiation of the profile hours with a number of TAFE Schools at RMIT. LearnLinks is also supported by the Northern Metropolitan Regional Council of Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE).

LearnLinks combines the resources and expertise of RMIT University with local education providers who have in-depth knowledge of the learning and vocational needs of their local communities. This combination of expertise, resources and local knowledge brings quality education and training opportunities to individuals across metropolitan Melbourne. There are currently seven community learning centres participating in LearnLinks, which form the basis of a strong, collaborative operational group focused on quality education and innovative delivery in a business model that is striving for financial sustainability and mutual benefit for all stakeholders.

LearnLinks also focuses on developing communities of learning that encompass learners, tutors, and community managers and committees. A major focus of these communities is to promote broader 'learning cities'. Successful learning cities operate across geographic boundaries by establishing a high quality, flexible, reliable distributed learning system responsive to client needs within defined regional boundaries.

LearnLinks is an access and equity program of RMIT University.
